Waste recycling for businesses
Blue box collection:
Region of Waterloo businesses are eligible to receive blue box recycling collection only if the business is located on an existing municipal curbside collection route. Businesses not meeting this criteria must hire their own contractors for recycling collection. To determine if your business is eligible for Regional recycling collection, please e-mail or call the Waste Management Division at 519-883-5100.
There is a maximum of three blue boxes and three bundles of corrugated cardboard allowed per eligible business. Note: corrugated cardboard must be broken down to no larger than 75 cm x 75 cm x 20 cm (30"x30"x8") and tied.
Businesses interested in recycling electronic equipment should refer to the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) program.

Businesses seeking assistance in diverting their recyclable material should contact their current waste hauler.
In addition to asking companies about costs of services or materials handled, quantities of materials accepted, timing and other logistics, here are a few other items to consider:
Environmental impacts and practices of their business. For instance, ensure the company is recycling and recovering materials in an environmentally-responsible way;
References. Find out the experiences of current and past customers;
Qualifications. Review copies of relevant licenses, Certificates of Approval, training, policies, and emergency response procedures;
Tour the facility. Get a first hand look of their operation.
