The Region of Waterloo provides links to various waste reduction, reuse and recycling opportunities for businesses, and some businesses qualify for our curbside blue box collection.

How to set up a commercial account

Businesses hauling large quantities of waste to our sites, should consider setting up a commercial account with us.

To set up a commercial landfill account with the Region of Waterloo, please complete and mail or fax an Application for Credit to:

Commercial tipping locations and hours of operation

Waterloo Waste Management Site

925 Erb Street West, Gate 1

Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday Closed

Cambridge Waste Management Site

201 Savage Drive (End of Savage Drive)

Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Closed Sunday Closed

Note: These sites are open regular hours to only commercial customers on all statutory and designated holidays, except Christmas Day and New Year's Day and Canada Day, Saturday July 1, 2017.

Fees for commercial users
Commercial fees for Waterloo and Cambridge waste management sites
  • There is a minimum $5 charge on all loads.
  • Fees calculated per metric tonne.
  • Some restrictions on loads may apply at the Cambridge facility.
  • Surcharge loads: accepted at Waterloo site ONLY.
  • Payment options for customers who do not have an account: Cash only for all transactions below $10.00. For transactions above $10.00, cash, debit and credit are accepted.

Pallets/Drywall $79.00

Surcharge loads (stumps, wire, styrofoam, asbestos, etc.): Waterloo site only


Tires: maximum 20", no rims, passenger vehicles only


Segregated loads

  • All regular blue box materials
  • Organics (leaves, yard waste, brush, etc.)
  • Inerts (clean fill, bricks, concrete rubble,etc.)
  • Appliances and scrap metal (refrigerators, stoves, freezers, etc.)


CFC removal fee

$10 first unit $25 each additional unit

Electronics (e-waste)

$2,000 per tonne

Garbage Tags ($2 per tag, sold in sheets of 5)

Commercial hazardous waste disposal

The Region of Waterloo's landfill sites are not licensed to receive hazardous waste from industrial or commercial sources. Disposal of hazardous waste in local sanitary landfills is a serious offence under Provincial legislation.
Information regarding proper disposal procedures and guidelines can be obtained from the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.

Asbestos disposal

Asbestos is not accepted in any curbside collection programs. Asbestos disposal must be pre-approved by Regional staff and is accepted for disposal only at the Waterloo Waste Management Facility, 925 Erb Street West, Waterloo, Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Please fill out a Request for Asbestos Disposal form and email to wasteopsadmin@regionofwaterloo.ca.  Requests must be received by Tuesday noon for disposal same week. 

Additional Information

  • Only asbestos generated from within the Region of Waterloo will be accepted.
  • All material must be double bagged in 3mm thick bags or in single 6mm thick bags, securely sealed and labeled 'asbestos'.  The transporter is responsible for unloading asbestos from their vehicle.
  • Asbestos loads are charged at double the current General Refuse fee.
