Air and Energy

Clean air is essential to the health and well-being of all living creatures and their surrounding environment.

Air quality, however, is directly affected by natural and human-caused conditions, including vehicle exhaust, heating of homes and buildings, burning of wood, construction dust, industrial processes and energy generation.

We have a tradition of air-quality and energy initiatives such as Waterloo Region Partners for Clean Air, the Emission Reduction Plan, Anti-Idling protocol and education campaigns.

We are also working on an Energy Management Strategy, a Fleet Greening Strategy, Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Clean Air Plan, and Community Energy Planning Strategy.

We are committed to doing our part to create a healthy, sustainable environment. We'll help keep the air clean by managing energy resources while reducing greenhouse gases and other air emissions that result from Regional activities.
