Waterloo Region – Due to extreme winter storm conditions, collection crews are not able to collect garbage, green bins or recycling on Monday, February 2.
All Monday garbage, green bin and recycling collection across Waterloo Region (cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo, and Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich will be collected on Saturday, February 7.
Cancelling Monday’s collection allows time for plows to safely clear all neighbourhood streets. Unplowed streets are a challenge for waste trucks, and crews may not be able to access waste containers after plows have gone by. Only Monday’s collection is affected. With only enough trucks available to collect one day’s worth of waste at a time, collection will continue as normal for the rest of the week, and the Monday collection will be moved to Saturday.
If your collection day is:
•Monday, your waste will be collected on Saturday (please set out by 7 a.m.)
•Tuesday, your waste will be collected on Tuesday.
•Wednesday, your waste will be collected on Wednesday.
•Thursday, your waste will be collected on Thursday.
•Friday, your waste will be collected on Friday.
Residents with Monday collection are asked to please dig out and hold onto their waste until Saturday. Crews will collect as usual for the rest of the week. When clearing driveways and sidewalks, please consider clearing a shelf in the snowbank for your waste. Garbage, green bins and recycling must be visible and easily accessible from the curb, and not covered with snow. Please have all waste to the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.
The Cambridge and Waterloo waste transfer stations are open for regular hours today.
Additional information on all waste collection and diversion programs can be found on the Region’s website at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste. If you have any questions regarding collection, please call customer service at 519-575-4400.
