Dataset description


The Region of Waterloo classifies all of the records it creates or receives.  This data set is used to classify, manage and dispose of Regional Records.

File_Code - An alpha-numeric code that is assigned to records to identify a record's series name and/or business activity.
Record_Series - Group of identical, similar, or related to records bearing a common classification code that are normally arranged together that permits evaluation as a unit for retention scheduling purposes.
Function - Reflects the type of information not the department which creates or receives it.
OPR - The office required to maintain the records.
A - The period of time a series of records are required for day-to-day operations and referred to regularly.  This type of record is kept onsite near users for easy access.
SA - The period of time a series of records exists with a reference rate of less than one search per month.  These are maintained in offsite storage.
FD - What happens to records when the active and semi-active stages have run out.
