Meet Jane Brewer

Jane Brewer was re-elected Regional Councillor representing the City of Cambridge on October 25, 2010. She has served continuously on Regional Council since 1982. Jane first entered municipal politics in 1978 when she was elected Ward Alderman to City of Cambridge Council. She was elected Mayor of Cambridge in November 1988 and served in that role until November 2000.
Jane chaired Community Services Committee during the 2003-2006 Term and she has served on all Committees of Regional Council during her many years as Regional Councillor. She has been involved on numerous special project teams throughout the years, most recently working on the Sunnyside Supportive Housing Steering Committee, the Regional Development Charges working group, the Hespeler Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades project team and the Hespeler Road Grade Separation project team. Jane also served as a Regional Council representative on the Grand River Conservation Authority from 2000 - 2010.
Jane's family includes her son John and daughter-in-law Kelly and their three children, Elisa, Daniel and Philip, and her son-in-law Andrew and his two children, John and Meredith. She has been employed as an office manager in the family business and has been active in the Lutheran Church and, at the national and international levels of the Lutheran World Federation. Jane is also a life member of the I.O.D.E.
