Karl Kiefer was elected to Regional Council as the Cambridge representative on October 27, 2014.

Karl has lived in Cambridge for 60 years. He served as a Ward Councillor in Cambridge for 23 years. Over the course of his career Karl has also been extensively involved in various committees. He has served as the council liaison for the Preston Business Improvement Area, a member of the economic advisory committee, the core revitalization advisory committee, and chair of the master-plan for leisure services and facilities. Karl was also a past member on the Board of Directors for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Karl has been a Financial Advisor with Sun Life Financial for 31 years. Karl is also involved with the community as a volunteer for Preston International Hockey Tournaments, Tim Horton's Camp Days, and McDonald's McHappy Days. Karl is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 126), the YMCA and St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

As a member of Regional Council, Karl believes that some of the most important issues to focus on are transportation and infrastructure, affordable housing, and the local economy & employment. Karl also strongly believes in the importance of accountability to the people that elected him to office, and hopes to serve the Region with a candid and approachable mentality that will allow him to be responsive to the needs of the Region.

Karl lives with his wife Kathryn, they have a son, a daughter and one grand-daughter and a new grandson.
