Township of Wellesley

Wellesley Township in the northwest corner of the Region of Waterloo is primarily agricultural. Going back 150 years ago, 6,000 people had already settled here and rapid growth seemed certain. However, the pace slowed after railways bypassed the area.

Today the population numbers 10,500. Wellesley, St. Clements and Linwood are the township's largest towns. Each September, thousands of visitors show up early for the one-day Wellesley Apple Butter and Cheese Festival.
