COVID-19 vaccination clinic opens today at Langs
Waterloo Region – Today, another vaccination clinic opens in Waterloo Region at Langs Community Health Centre, 1145 Concession Road in Cambridge. This medium-sized clinic is accessible for the 80+ population and will be open five days a week (Monday to Friday) until April 2.
“The Waterloo Region Distribution Task Force appreciates the support of our primary care, hospital, public health, pharmacists and other community partners who are providing staff and resources to open more clinics across Waterloo Region” said Shirley Hilton, Deputy Chief for Waterloo Region Police Service and head of the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force. “With their support it will be even easier for residents to get the vaccine when they are eligible and there is more vaccine available.”
The vaccination clinic at Langs is a primary care based site that will operate with the support of several primary care partners: Two Rivers Family Health Team, Grandview Family Health Team, Waterloo Region Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic and Delta Coronation Family Health Organization.
“The launch of the 80+ vaccination clinic at Langs will be a memorable day for all,” said Bill Davidson, CEO, Langs. “I especially want to thank our team, the Region of Waterloo and community partners for their tireless efforts to offer this essential service to the community.”
All vaccination clinics in Waterloo region are by appointment only. Residents who belong to one of the eligible priority groups, including the 80+ age group, can pre-register for the vaccine on the Region of Waterloo website: Waterloo Region COVID-19 Vaccination Pre-registration Form; or by calling the Service First Call Centre at 519-575-4400. Appointments cannot be booked at the vaccination clinics.
The Region of Waterloo COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force is working with primary care partners to support the immunization of priority populations in Waterloo Region,” said Dr. Sharon Bal, Primary Care Physician Lead, Region of Waterloo Task Force. “We’re very grateful for the partnership with Langs Community Health Centre, which is hosting the Region's first primary-care-based site, and contributing primary care partners because it means we can open an interim, accessible clinic location that is ideal for our older 80+ population and anyone else in Waterloo Region who is eligible and would like to get their vaccine at Langs.”
Planning is underway for other primary care based vaccination locations throughout Waterloo Region.
