Pinedale Drive to Westmount Road

Project update

As part of the Ottawa Street improvements project, the Region of Waterloo is starting stage two of this year’s work between Westmount Road and Pinedale Drive. In this stage we will replace a culvert at Shoemaker Creek, continue the new roundabout at the Ottawa Street and Westmount Road intersection, replace underground infrastructure, add new multi-use paths on both sides of Ottawa Street and upgrade the streetlighting.

Timing — starts July 7, 2025

Stage 2 construction will begin July 7 and go until November 2025.

Closures and lane reductions

Ottawa Street from west of Westmount Road to east of Pinedale Drive will be closed to all through traffic.

Two-way traffic will be maintained on Westmount Road with lane restrictions.

Ottawa Street from east of Westmount Road to Mowat Boulevard will reopen to two-way traffic starting July 7.

Detour

Please use Westmount Road and Fischer-Hallman Road to detour around the construction site. A detour map is provided below.

Access to the plaza at 645 Westmount Road East can be made on Westmount Road.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Paramedics) have been notified of the construction, closures and detours to minimize any disruptions to services.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrian access will be maintained, please follow the signs as they walk through the site.
