UNIFOR 4304 members do not ratify agreement – on strike as of 12:01 a.m.

Waterloo Region – Members of UNIFOR, Local 4304, representing Grand River Transit, busPLUS, MobilityPLUS operators, reservationists, fleet mechanics and service attendants have not ratified an agreement with the Region of Waterloo and will be on strike as of 12:01 a.m. Bus service will stop at 3:00 a.m.

As a result, conventional bus, MobilityPLUS and busPLUS services will not operate tomorrow. ION train service will continue as it is maintained and operated by Keolis.

Despite an offer that was competitive for GRT staff and affordable for residents, unfortunately, we were not able to reach an agreement.

The Region is committed to reaching an agreement and we remain open to discussions with the union.

We appreciate that customers rely on transit on a daily basis and we will continue to update customers and residents with information as soon as it becomes available.
