Preferred cycling lane designs to be shared at public meeting
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo is looking to convert the temporary cycling facilities introduced through a pilot project in 2019 in Waterloo and Kitchener, to permanent facilities, and further expand the cycling network. This project looked at cycling facilities along King Street North, University Avenue, Erb Street, Bridgeport Road, and Caroline Street.
Following a feasibility study, evaluation of the alternatives, consideration of community and stakeholder feedback, and a review of the Region’s previously approved plans, a preferred design has been finalized and is ready to be shared.
Public meeting
Join us on November 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a live online meeting via Zoom.
The meeting will:
- Outline the project, including a summary of work completed to date.
- Explain the process for developing design options for separated cycling facilities along the study area corridors, including an exploration of the evaluation criteria and feedback that led to the selection of the preferred alternative.
- Show residents what the corridors may look like in the future through visualization tools, renderings and design drawings.
- Provide an opportunity for members of the public to share comments about specific details of the preferred alternative design using an online tool and ask questions of the project team.
While registration is not required, we encourage you to register in advance at engagewr.ca/waterloocycling to receive reminders of the meeting, and to submit questions to the project team in advance. For attendees who do not register, a direct link to the public meeting will be posted on the project page at on November 16.
