Public Open House - West Montrose Covered Bridge Rehabilitation, Township of Woolwich
Share your comments with us as we continue to plan for the rehabilitation of the West Montrose Covered Bridge.
Open house and survey
We’re hosting an in-person open house on November 22, 2023 from 6:30–9:00 p.m. at the West Montrose United Church, 42 Covered Bridge Drive, West Montrose, to share our latest updates and answer any questions.
You can also share your comments with us through a survey posted at engagewr.ca/west-Montrose between November 20 and December 13, 2023. Feedback can also be provided by email, mail, or by telephone.
What’s changed
We’ve made revisions to the preferred rehabilitation alternative and we’re looking for your feedback. The revised preferred alternative includes removal of the existing steel Bailey truss, replacement of deteriorated truss members, recommended after a detailed inspection of the truss, and reinforcement of selected members to accommodate a 10-tonne design vehicular live load. This is preferred instead of the previous option we shared with you at the last public consultation, which considered reinforcing the bridge with fiber-reinforced polymers. We will maintain the three-tonne load limit and a height restriction bar is proposed to prevent damage to the bridge from oversized vehicles.
