Construction update: New Dundee Road closure, City of Kitchener, August 27, 2024

Pinnacle Drive to 70m east of Executive Place

Project update

As part of the New Dundee Road rehabilitation, this road will be closed to through traffic on August 27, 2024. This project includes replacing the road’s asphalt, re-grading the ditches and installing new guardrails.

Timing 

Construction for this project will go to mid-September 2024. The next phase of the New Dundee Road project will continue in 2025 between Pinnacle Drive and Robert Ferrie Drive.

Road closure

New Dundee Road will be closed in both directions to through traffic from Executive Place to Pinnacle Drive on August 27, 2024 from 8am to 4pm. Local traffic on westbound lane will be maintained up to Princess Auto north entrance. Local traffic on eastbound lane will be maintained up to Pinnacle Drive.

The road will switch back to lane reduction after 4pm, and fully re-open after mid-September 2024.

Detour

Detour signs will be posted at the intersections with Fischer-Hallman Road and Homer Watson Boulevard to direct traffic to follow the detour route. Please also see the detour map provided.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Paramedics) have been notified of the construction and lane reduction to minimize any disruptions to services.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrians should follow signs as they walk through the site. The intersection ramps are being replaced and temporary detours / walkways around the work area will be required at times.

Property and business access

Access to the Kitchener Self-Storage Building and Executive Place roadway will be closed as the contractor is completing the asphalt paving operations between Pinnacle Drive and 70m east of Executive Place. Every effort will be made to complete the work quickly and open the access to the businesses at this area.
