Grand River Transit fare changes
Waterloo Region – Starting July 1, 2025, Grand River Transit (GRT) fares are changing. The fare change helps to offset the rising cost of transit and increases discounts for those living with low income. Fares are determined during the annual Region of Waterloo Plan and Budget process.
Fares for Affordable Transit Program customers will decrease by an average of 6 per cent. Customers will pay $1.35 for EasyGO stored value, or $47 for a monthly pass, receiving a 55 per cent discount. ATP is available to anyone in Waterloo Region living with low income. Visit grt.ca/ATP to apply.
Children six years old and under will now ride free when travelling with a fare paying customer, providing additional support to families and caregivers.
The cost of an EasyGO fare card is also decreasing by 20 per cent to $4 to encourage customers to transition away from cash and use the discount available using stored value.
Monthly passes will increase by 8 per cent and will cost $104. A single-ride cash fare will increase to $4 while single-ride fares for customers using an EasyGO fare card or GRT Pay will stay the same at $3.
