Yard waste collection to begin April 13
Waterloo Region – Curbside yard waste collection for the Region of Waterloo is now scheduled to begin on April 13. Yard waste in the Cities of Cambridge and Waterloo will be collected the week of April 13, and from the City of Kitchener and the Townships the week of April 20, on your regular waste collection day according to the yard waste calendar schedule.
We ask residents to please consider whether you have the ability or capacity to store yard waste or delay set-out, and we continue to ask you to do so wherever possible. Should our collection crews’ ability to provide service be impacted by illness, yard waste collection will have to be cancelled.
Residents’ ability to hold their yard waste and bulky items have been greatly appreciated. The Region and our collection contractors recognize that not collecting these items is an inconvenience for many. We ask residents to continue to only use the expanded six bag garbage limit if absolutely necessary, not for spring cleaning. Bulky items (items that don’t fit in a garbage bag) will still not be collected.
Collection crews appreciate the support they are receiving from the community. Residents are reminded to please keep a safe physical distance from all crews and trucks for the protection of the workers, and to ensure all garbage is contained in a garbage bag, not loose in a garbage can. By considering the mental and physical wellbeing of our crews, we can ensure these men and women are able to continue these services safely.
Residents interested in receiving the most up-to-date information regarding Waste programs and services are encouraged to download the Region’s Waste Whiz app, and subscribe to push notifications (ensure that the app has Notification permissions enabled on your phone to receive these notifications regarding program start dates and cancellations.)
Reporting of curbside waste collection issues is best done through the Region’s online complaint form (visit www.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste and click on Report a Collection Issue).
