Construction notice: Hespeler Road improvements, City of Cambridge, September – October, 2024

Highway 401 ramp to Pinebush Road/Eagle Street

About the project

The Region of Waterloo will be repairing the asphalt and replacing the manhole collars on Hespeler Road from the Highway 401 ramps to Pinebush Road/Eagle Street, including the intersection. We are also adding a multi-use trail on the east side of Hespeler Road.

Timing 

Construction will be completed in stages starting September 16, 2024 through to October 4, 2024. 

Lane restrictions

There will no lane restrictions or closures outside of the nightly working hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Highway 401 and Hespler Road intersection

The off ramp from Highway 401 eastbound to Hespeler Road southbound will be closed nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Right hand turns will be accomodated onto Hespeler Road from the highway.

Hespeler Road south of 401

Lanes will be reduced from four to two lanes to accomodate two-way traffic.

Pinebush Road/Eagle Street and Hespeler Road intersection

The intersection of Pinebush Road/Eagle Street and Hespeler Road will have alternating lane closures nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Pedestrian access

Sidewalks in this area will remain accessible during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.

Property and business access

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain access to residential and business driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 p.m.- 6 a.m.). Construction activities may temporarily impact access to entrances.

If possible, please avoid this area during construction and please plan for delays and travel carefully in the construction zone if you need be in this area.  We request that when driving or walking through and around the construction zone you follow and obey the construction traffic signage for your safety and for the safety of the workers.
