Small steps can make big changes: New exhibit aims to inspire visitors to take climate action

Posted on Thursday July 03, 2025

Waterloo Region – A new interactive exhibit opening this week aims to inspire visitors to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help Canada achieve its goal of net zero by 2050.

Our Climate Quest: Small steps to big change, opens this Saturday, July 5 at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum. The exhibit shows visitors how the choices they make every day impact the environment in a big way.

Curated and developed by Science North with support from the Government of Canada, the exhibit builds on our current understanding of climate change and its impacts, while encouraging visitors to take meaningful action in a fun and engaging way.

"Exhibits like Our Climate Quest are important to help residents engage on critical topics, like climate action,” said Karen Redman, Chair of the Region of Waterloo. “It encourages us to reflect on our own relationship with the environment and provides ideas on how to make meaningful changes in our own lives. It also asks us to consider our commitment to climate adaptation through sustainable development.”

The exhibit offers activities for anyone who wants to learn how to take climate action, including:

  • Themed zones, featuring hands-on activities on science and Indigenous knowledge, impacts of climate change, climate action and climate solutions;
  • Interactive games and quizzes to test your climate knowledge;
  • Multimedia experiences like the Climate Action Show; and
  • Real stories from people taking climate action.

We invite the community and members of the media to join us for the exhibit opening:
