Compost now available; original garbage bag limits return October 5
Waterloo Region – Compost will be available at both the Cambridge and Waterloo transfer stations effective today. Residents of Waterloo Region can pick up small quantities of compost at no cost at our transfer stations from today until the first snowfall, as supplies last. Here are the details:
- Maximum five bushels
- Bring your own shovel and containers
- Location and hours:
- 925 Erb Street West (Gate 2), Waterloo, Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 201 Savage Drive, Cambridge, Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Residents are reminded to practice physical distancing while on-site.
With the return to full curbside collection service and the re-opening of transfer stations for residential drop-off, regular garbage bag limits will once again be in effect as of Monday, October 5: four bags or cans for single family homes, and 10 bags or cans for eligible small apartment buildings.
Collection crews appreciate the support they have received from the community during the COVID pandemic. Residents are reminded to please keep a safe physical distance from all crews and trucks for the protection of the workers, and to ensure all regular household garbage is contained in a garbage bag, not loose in a garbage can.
Find more information about our programs and services on our website at www.regionofwaterloo.ca/waste. Residents are encouraged to download the Region’s Waste Whiz app to set up collection reminders and search how to properly dispose of or recycle materials.
