Region of Waterloo Speed Camera Program Expands to Two New Locations
Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo’s Municipal Speed Camera program to support safer neighbourhoods and school zones has expanded. Two new cameras will be active in February, with additional cameras coming to neighbourhoods across Waterloo Region over the course of the year.

- February 10, 2025 – Elgin Street Public School, Elgin Street, Cambridge
Additional cameras will become active over the coming months, including:

- St. Brigid Catholic School, Broom Street, Ayr
- Sir Adam Beck Public School, Snyder's Road, Baden
- Elgin Street Public School, Elgin Street North, Cambridge

Speed cameras are a proven method of reducing vehicle speeds in neighbourhoods, leading to better outcomes in event of a collision. Locations are selected and reviewed by Area Municipal and Regional Staff, with a focus on school zones and high-community use areas.
Also effective February 3, 2025, the Region of Waterloo is introducing a new, user-friendly way to pay and dispute tickets issued for speeding incidents detected by Municipal Speed Cameras in school zones. These tickets, (now called Penalty Orders), will be administered through the Administrative Penalties Program (APP).
