Construction update: Victoria Street, Kitchener, September–November, 2025
Project update
As part of the Victoria Street improvements project, work is now beginning on the west side of the Victoria Street and Westmount Road intersection.
The west side of the Victoria Street and Fischer-Hallman Road intersection has now reopened.
Timing — starts September 15
The west side of the Victoria Street and Westmount Road intersection will be closed to through traffic starting on Monday, September 15 and will go until mid-October.
Work on east sides of each intersection is expected to start in mid-October and go until the end of November.
Closures
Victoria Street west of Westmount Road will be closed to through traffic.
Two-way traffic is being maintained on Westmount Road. Access to businesses at this intersection can be made via Westmount Road or Victoria Street from the Hazelglen Drive intersection.
Detour
Through traffic is being detoured through Belmont Avenue <> Highland Road West <> Fischer-Hallman Road.
Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Paramedics) have been notified of the construction, closures and detours to minimize any disruptions to services.
Grand River Transit
Temporary bus stops will be provided for Route 12, 20 and 201 as the work proceeds. Visit www.grt.ca/detours for more information and updates.
Pedestrian access
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, please follow the signs when walking or rolling through the construction site.
Access to the community trails and Henry Sturm Greenway/Fenwick Greenway will be maintained.
