Shared e-scooter, e-bike program back for 2024

Waterloo Region – The Region of Waterloo and Cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo will partner with Neuron Mobility for a second year, with shared e-scooters and e-bikes coming back in April.

The shared e-bike and e-scooter program helps the Region of Waterloo achieve its climate change goals, supports multi-modal transportation, and contributes to an interconnected transportation network for the whole community to enjoy.

In 2024, the Region will work with the Cities on a plan to expand the service area and station locations. Parking facilities and compliance, as well as riding rules and etiquette, will also be a focus for the year.

“I am pleased to see the e-scooters and e-bikes return for another year, providing an additional travel option for residents,” said Councillor Colleen James, Chair of Planning and Works Committee. “I look forward to seeing ridership and the network continue to grow.”

The community is welcome to provide ideas and recommendations for station locations through the Region’s Engage Page.

From April to October 2023, nearly 46,000 people took 190,000 rides, travelling over 360,000 kilometres by e-scooter and e-bike. That’s roughly the equivalent of crossing Canada from coast to coast, 65 times.

As a result, the community prevented over 12 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions and the program injected an estimated $8.2 million into the Waterloo Region economy.
