Healthy Relationships

What is a healthy relationship?

A healthy, loving relationship means that you:

  • Trust one another
  • Respect each other's opinions, friends, family and belongings
  • Are able to be yourself
  • Support each other's goals, values and interests
  • Have open communication
  • Encourage each other to do and be your best

Everyone deserves to be respected, valued, and to feel safe and secure in their relationship.

What is not a healthy relationship?

An unhealthy relationship involves:

  • One person trying to exert power and control over another
  • Physical, emotional, verbal, financial or sexual abuse
  • The use of fear or intimidation to control how someone talks, acts and thinks both now and in the future
  • Isolation/exclusion from family and friends

Abuse is never okay and no one ever deserves to be abused.
