Orders and Instructions

What is a class order?

Under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA), a Medical Officer of Health can issue a Section 22 order to “require a person to take or to refrain from taking any action in respect of a communicable disease.” Class orders are those which are issued to a class (or group) of persons.

Class Section 22 orders that have been issued and are currently in effect in the Region of Waterloo are listed below.

What is an Instruction?

Similar to a Section 22 order, under the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA), a Medical Officer of Health can issue instructions to enhance or support the requirements of the ROA and applicable regulations.

Instructions that have been issued and are currently in effect in the Region of Waterloo are listed below.
