Playground Activity Leaders in Schools

Playground Activity Leaders in Schools (PALS) is a partnership between Region of Waterloo Public Health and Waterloo Region's school boards. The program encourages children to participate in playground activities at recess regardless of their gender, size or ability. It also promotes both structured and unstructured play.

School staff supervise the program at their schools with help from trained student leaders from Grades 4 to 7. They are responsible for planning and leading fun and safe activities on the school playground at recess or nutrition breaks.

Benefits of the PALS program

  • Decreased playground conflict and bullying
