Police

Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) provides policing services for the Region of Waterloo which includes the cities of Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, as well as the townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich.

Tiered response of local Fire and Police resources ensures the quickest possible response to life-threatening emergencies. All local fire departments now provide rapid cardiac defibrillation in support of paramedics. 

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Cambridge Detachment provides policing services for all provincial highways in the Region of Waterloo, including Highway 401, Highway 7, Highway 8, Highway 85, and Highway 24. The OPP allocates resources to “hotspot” areas and focuses efforts on the leading causes of injury and death on our highways, specifically; impaired driving (alcohol or drug), aggressive driving, distracted driving and seatbelt compliance. The OPP employs a three-prong approach to our road safety strategy which includes; high police visibility, education and awareness initiatives and enforcement activities.  The Cambridge OPP detachment can be reached at 519-654-0150.
