Funding to Help Buy a Home
The Affordable Home Ownership program helps renters become homeowners. The program provides eligible home buyers with a five per cent loan for a down payment.
Who is eligible
To qualify, you must:
- Be buying a home in Waterloo Region for $600,000 or less (as of April 24, 2024)
- Have a household income of up to $109,000
- Be at least 18 years old and renting
- Have resided in Waterloo Region for at least the last year
Please see the Affordable Home Ownership Fact Sheet for more on the requirements and the type of home you can buy. If you qualify, you will have 90 days to buy a home.

How to apply
To apply, complete the Affordable Home Ownership application form and fax to 519-575-4026, email, mail, or drop the form off at one of the following Regional offices:

- 99 Regina St. S., Waterloo, ON N2J 4V3
