Regional Council is composed of the Regional Chair, 8 directly elected Regional Councillors, and Mayors of the 7 local municipalities; the Cities of CambridgeKitchener and Waterloo and the Townships of North DumfriesWellesleyWilmot and Woolwich.

Members of Regional Council serve a four-year term. The Regional Chair is elected by all eligible voters throughout the Region of Waterloo. Eligible voters in the;

  • City of Kitchener elect 4 Regional Councillors
  • City of Cambridge elect 2 Regional Councillors
  • City of Waterloo elect 2 Regional Councillors

Invite the Regional Chair

If you wish to invite only the Regional Chair to your event, please email the Chair's office and include the following details:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your phone number
  • Your email
  • Organization sponsoring the event or meeting (if applicable)
  • The name and type of event
  • Event date
  • Event start and finish time
  • Formal program start and finish time (if applicable)
  • Event location and address
  • The Regional Chair's role (i.e. speaking, presentation, ribbon cutting, attendance only, etc.)
  • If remarks and/or a presentation is requested, please include the suggested topic and the time allowed for the remarks and/or presentation
  • RSVP date
  • Additional event details

We will contact you to confirm attendance or extend regrets.

Conflict of Interest: 

Amendments to the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, state that Councillors are to declare conflicts in writing, to the Regional Clerk before, or immediately following, the meeting.  To review all Conflicts that have been received by the Regional Clerk, please visit our Conflict of Interest Page.
