Tom Galloway was re-elected to Waterloo Regional Council in 2018 as a representative of Kitchener.

From 1991 to 2000, Tom served as the South Ward Councillor on Kitchener City Council. He was first appointed to Regional Council by the City of Kitchener in 1994 and was reappointed in 1997. Since 2000, Tom has been directly elected to Regional Council by Kitchener voters. Prior to his municipal experience, he served as a Trustee with the Waterloo Region Separate School Board.

Tom is a life-long resident of Kitchener, having gone to local elementary and secondary schools and the University of Waterloo, where he received his Bachelor of Arts. Tom is retired from a career at the University of Waterloo.

During his time on Regional Council, Tom has served on all standing committees and was chair of the Administration and Finance Committee from 1997 to 2014. He has served on the Waterloo Region Police Services Board since 2000 and has been Chair since 2001. He has served continuously on the Waterloo Region Heritage Foundation, Economic Development and Promotion Committee and the Water Efficiency Advisory Committee as well as many project working groups and task forces. In the past, he has been on the Board of Directors of Grand River Hospital, Social Planning Council and the Homer Watson House and Gallery.

In his free time, Tom is very active in the community. He is well-known for his more than 50 years as an off-ice official for the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club. He was also Associate Chair for the World Fastball Championships and was a member of the bid committee for Canada's Special Olympics. He has coached minor hockey, ringette and T-ball.

Tom has also been involved in the Oktoberfest Advisory Council, the Olympic Torch Run Task Force, the Community Action Centre Steering Committee, and United Way campaigns.

Tom lives in Kitchener and has five grown children and ten grandchildren.
