Conserving Water

We all play a role in using water wisely. It helps protect our community’s water supply now and in the future. This is especially important during warm, dry weather when people use more water.

Small actions at home, at work and outdoors can help reduce water use and support a more sustainable future. You may also save money on your water bill.

Thank you for doing your part.

Water Conservation By-law: Outdoor water use restrictions

Every year from May 31 to September 30, our Water Conservation By-law 07-069 helps to reduce strain on our community's water system during the hottest, driest months, when demand is highest.

Since 2005, the by-law has been successfully lowering peak summer water use by 20 to 30 per cent. Before the by-law, water use during hot, dry periods often climbed 50 per cent above normal levels.

Learn more about the by-law, find your outdoor water use schedule (based on your property address) or apply for temporary watering permits on the Outdoor Water Use and Restrictions page.

Thank you to residents and businesses for continuing to follow the by-law and making water-wise choices.
