As centres of discovery, the Region of Waterloo Museums and Archives are essential to understanding our place in the world—past, present and future. We inspire feelings of pride and possibility in our community and foster a sense of identity and belonging among citizens.

Archives

The Region of Waterloo acquires and preserve records of archival value, provides access to the records, and supports the development of the archival community in Waterloo Region.

The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum has one of the largest community museum collections in Ontario, which includes local history artifacts that preserve and document our community's material heritage. Schneider Haus National Historic Site also has large collections.

The Region of Waterloo Archives was established in 1990 when a Corporate Archives policy was approved by Regional Council. The Archives serves as a research centre, assisting a variety of researchers including students, family historians, authors and academics. Everyone is welcome to use the Archives.

The research room is currently open by appointment only. To make an appointment or to forward a research request, please email us at archives@regionofwaterloo.ca and we will do our best to assist you.

The Archives is also the official home of records created by the:
