Sexual Health Services
Public Health offers non-judgmental and confidential services. Our sites are open to everyone, including members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and people involved with sex work.
- All services are free, and most do not require a health card.
- Free condoms and safer sex supplies are available at our Public Health clinic locations in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.
Our sexual health clinics are by appointment only. There are no drop-in clinics. See information below on eligibility for Public Health services and other options for accessing support. If you have a sexual health-related emergency, please visit a local emergency department or walk-in clinic.
If you've experienced a sexual assault, you have the following options:
- Go to the emergency department of Waterloo Regional Health Network @ Queen's Blvd (formerly St. Mary’s Hospital) or Cambridge Memorial Hospital
- Call the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre at 519-749-6994
- Call the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region at 519-741-8633
- Call 911
Youth sexual health (18 and under)
We provide sexual health services and support to youth over the phone and in person. Learn more on our Youth Sexual Health Services page.
Sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing and treatment

I have an Ontario Health (OHIP) Card
Visit your health care provider or a walk-in clinic. You may also be eligible to access testing through Getakit.ca.
I am a university or college student
Visit your school's student health services for testing.
I do not have a health card, or I can't access a health care provider
Public Health can test and treat for STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV. Follow the steps below, based on your situation.
- I do not have symptoms of an STI
- Book an appointment online for STI testing at one of our clinics:
- I am experiencing STI symptoms
- Use our Request Sexual Health Services form or call the Service First Contact Centre at 519-575-4400. Public Health staff will contact you with information on the next steps.
I am looking for information on PreP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV)

Sexual health-related vaccines
Public Health offers free vaccines for men who have sex with men, as part of the Ministry of Health's Publicly Funded Immunization High Risk Vaccine Program. These vaccines include:
- Hepatitis B
- Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) up to age 26
- Mpox
To get a Hepatitis B or HPV vaccine, complete the Sexual Health Services Request Form.

Birth control and pregnancy services
Birth control services are available for people 24 years old and under and for people without a health care provider. Emergency contraception and pregnancy tests can also be purchased at a pharmacy. Learn about birth control and pregnancy at Sex & U.
We can provide the following services to those who are eligible:
- Access to emergency contraception (all ages)
- Urine pregnancy test and pregnancy options (all ages)
- Contraception and pregnancy services like birth control and IUD insertions and removals (24 years old and younger)

Services not offered by Public Health
If you need assessment for any of the below concerns, visit your health care provider, a walk-in clinic or your post-secondary school's student health services. In the case of an emergency, call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency department.
- Point of Care HIV testing
- Routine pap screening
- Liquid nitrogen for the treatment of HPV (genital warts)
- Testing or treatment of yeast, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, mycoplasma
- Testing or treatment for urinary tract infections
- Assessment of pain, sores or bumps in the mouth or throat, including cold sores
- Assessment of scabies, crabs or lice
- Assessment of sexual dysfunction (erection and arousal difficulties)
- Testing or treatment of infertility, miscarriage or menopause
- Testing or treatment of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)
- Assessment of dyspareunia (painful sex)
- Hepatitis A or B immunity testing
- Blood tests for herpes
