University Avenue West

The Region of Waterloo is constructing a new multi-use path along the south side of University Avenue West in the City of Waterloo, from Ira Needles Boulevard to Fischer-Hallman Road. The project includes new curbs and improvements to residential and commercial driveways. The new path will improve connectivity and provide a safer, more accessible route for pedestrians and cyclists.

Getting around during construction
Construction will begin on or about August 17, 2026, and will be completed by early September 2026.
Throughout construction, two-way traffic and driveway access will be maintained. No full road closures are anticipated. The sidewalks in this area will remain accessible during the project. Pedestrians should follow the signs as they walk through the site.

Benton Street and Frederick Street

The Region is resurfacing Benton Street from Courtland Avenue East to Church Street, and Frederick Street from Duke Street East to Lancaster Street. The project also includes replacing an aging watermain on Frederick Street between Duke Street East and Weber Street East.
In addition, partial storm sewer replacements will be completed at three locations:
- Benton Street at St. George Street
- Frederick Street at Otto Street
- Frederick Street at Lancaster Street.

Getting around during construction
Construction will begin on or about August 2026 and extending through late October 2026.
Throughout construction, two-way traffic and driveway access will be maintained. During the watermain replacement on Frederick Street, between Duke Street and Weber Street, one lane in each direction will be open throughout construction.

The new path will improve connectivity and provide a safer, more accessible route for pedestrians and cyclists.

Townline Road

The Region of Waterloo is constructing a traffic median north of the intersection of Pinebush Road and Townline Road from 2310 Townline Road to 2420 Townline Road, to improve traffic safety and help manage vehicle movements through the intersection.
