Over the past three months, the contractor, Sierra Infrastructure, has completed the access roads needed to reach the construction site, including roadway protection along Northfield Drive.

A temporary causeway has also been built into the river to allow construction of the new bridge piers. The work was completed in stages to safely relocate fish and other aquatic species before the causeway was built. Approximately one-third of the river remains open to allow water to flow and aquatic life to pass through.

Construction is now underway on the foundations for the new bridge. Long steel supports are being driven deep into the ground to bedrock to provide a stable foundation for the new bridge piers and abutments. This work will continue over the next few months.

The in-water work is tentatively expected to be completed in December. Some of the temporary causeway material will then be removed from the river for the winter and spring, while some will be used for erosion protection at the south embankment. The remaining material will be removed after construction is completed in 2028.

Construction will continue through the winter when weather and site conditions allow.
