Fountain Street North

The Region of Waterloo is installing a new watermain along Fountain Street North 850m south of Flanders Road in Woolwich. During this work the asphalt, shoulders and boulevards will also be replaced.
This project aims to improve the water supply system in the Township of Woolwich and support the growing community.
Schedule
Design and planning: 2024–2025
Construction phase A and B: Completed November 2025
Construction phase C: Completion September 2026
Construction phase D: Summer 2027 (permit pending)
Final restoration: Fall 2027
Note: timing may be affected by weather conditions and changing project scope; updates will be posted as needed.

Ongoing construction projects
Fountain St N/ Menno St (Region of Waterloo project)
Watermain replacement work is underway on Fountain Street North, just north of Menno Street. Construction is expected to continue until the end of August or early September 2026. Two-way traffic is being maintained through the work zone using temporary traffic signals, but motorists should expect occasional delays.
Fountain St N Closure (Township of Woolwich project)
Starting on or about July 20, 2026, Fountain Street North will be closed at the Fountain Street/Kossuth Road/Fairway Road North roundabout for approximately 10 weeks as part of the Township of Woolwich construction project. Access to the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) will be maintained throughout construction, but delays should be expected.
