Branchton Meadows Water Treatment Plant

Overview

Project number: 04893 |  Updated: July 2026

The Region of Waterloo is making necessary upgrades to the Branchton Meadows Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in North Dumfries. Due to the age of the facility, the equipment and piping needs replacing to ensure continued delivery of safe drinking water to the Branchton Meadows neighbourhood. This WTP plant is located on Hughson Lane in the neighbourhood of Branchton Meadows.

Schedule

Design and planning: 2023–2025
Construction: Sept 2026–December 2027

Budget

$3 million

Construction impacts

Most of the construction will occur within the fences of the WTP site, however, there will also be some work on Hughson Street and Hughson Lane to install a new power feed to the building.

Residents will not experience any water supply interruptions during this work.

Water hauling trucks will be required occasionally to maintain water supply to the neighbourhood. These trucks will arrive as necessary depending on the system demands, which could occur outside of normal working hours (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.).
