Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Welcome to the Office of Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The Region of Waterloo is committed to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, as well as pursuing Truth and Reconciliation. This work is led by the Region's Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) team. The REDI team supports the Region by making sure the work that we do and the way do it is equitable, inclusive, and accessible. The goal of REDI is to create both an organization and a community where everyone belongs.

North Star Vision

REDI work at the Region is guided by a North Star Vision. As an organization that provides essential services to everyone in the Waterloo Region, we acknowledge the need for structural, institutional change and investment to address historic and ongoing systemic oppression. We are committed to a visible and ongoing journey of sharing power with community, adopting a culture of learning and unlearning, influencing change by having courageous conversations with humility, inviting community to co-create, imbedding a restorative lens to our work and environment to ensure everyone is heard and seen.
