Multi-Year Accessibility Plan and AODA Compliance

The Region of Waterloo is committed to making our services, programs, workplace and public spaces more accessible so we can better meet the needs of people with disabilities in our community. Accessibility is a complex and ongoing process. It requires the identification and removal of existing barriers. It also involves proactively planning for accessibility and ensuring new barriers aren’t created.

The Region's Multi Year Accessibility Plan (2023 - 2027) identifies and describes how we will reduce barriers and increase accessibility of our services, programs and public spaces for people with disabilities in our community. This plan is a demonstration of the Region’s commitment to accessibility. It is also part of our responsibilities under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

As a public sector organization, the Region has responsibilities under the AODA. These responsibilities are outlined in our annual Accessibility Status Updates, which describe how the Region continues to meet its obligations under the Act. Our Accessibility Status Updates also provide information on the progress made toward achieving the goals set out in our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.
