Accessibility
The Region of Waterloo is committed to accessibility of its services, programs, public spaces, and workplaces. When these things are accessible, residents can benefit from the Region’s services to their full extent and participate equitably in community life. And Regional staff can participate in working life meaningfully and equitably.
Accessibility is a complex, ongoing, and evolving process. Everyone at the Region has a responsibility to work in ways that promote accessibility in the workplace and community. Accessibility work at the Region is stewarded by the Region’s Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) team. The REDI team supports the Region with accessibility by:
- Advising and training staff on accessibility
- Supporting projects at the Region where accessibility is a significant consideration
- Developing programs and resources that support accessibility at the Region
- Monitoring and maintaining compliance with relevant accessibility legislation
