Accessible Customer Service and the AODA
In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the following is in place to support accessible customer service at the Region:
- Our staff are specially trained to provide services and goods to persons with disabilities. We are prepared and willing to meet your needs.
- We welcome service animals at Regional facilities. If you have a service animal, and the animal does not wear a noticeable vest or harness saying that it is a service animal, you may be asked to show identification that the animal is needed for reasons of a disability.
- We take care to make our communications with the public accessible. If needed, you can ask for our publications in a different format (e.g. Braille, large print) to support your accessibility needs.
- We take care to ensure our facilities and the services we provide are accessible. If there are disruptions to facilities and/or services, the Region will provide notice of temporary disruptions to services or facilities used by people with disabilities. Notices will be placed in the facility and on the internet, as appropriate. Advance notice will be given where possible.
