Maple Grove Water System Class Environmental Assessment Addendum

Addendum to the Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for the construction of the new Maple Grove water system in the City of Cambridge.

What is this project about?

In 2014, we completed a Class EA for the Maple Grove Water System. This includes two municipal water supply wells and a new water treatment plant at Region of Waterloo property at 200 Maple Grove Road in Cambridge. This project was not constructed at the time, but recently there has been renewed interest in developing new water sources for the area. An Addendum was required to make sure the recommendations from the 2014 Class EA were still appropriate today. The Addendum report, and the original 2014 Class EA, provides information on the preferred concept.

The Maple Grove Class EA Addendum considers:

Condition, water quality, and capacity of the two wells identified in the Class EA
Changes to local environmental conditions since 2014
Mitigation of potential impacts on the environment, residents, and businesses
Updates to water quality standards and any required changes to the water treatment plant concept
Phased construction of the water system components
