Public Health has accepted students for paid placements in fields including:

Nursing
Students in their fourth year of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Nursing program can apply for a student placement in Public Health.
Examples of previous nursing placements in Public Health include,
- Neighbourhood nursing and partnerships
- Healthy Babies Healthy Children program
- Infectious diseases
- Prenatal health and early child development
- Substance use prevention

Social work
Students in a Bachelor or Master of Social Work program can apply for a student placement in Public Health.
Focus areas for the placement can include,
- Research evaluation
- Program planning and implementation
- Community development
- Policy development
- Data collection and analysis
- Report writing
- Health communication

Paramedics
First and second-year paramedic students can apply for a field placement with Paramedic Services.
Focus areas for the placement can include,
- Experience working for ambulance service within the community
- Review and participate in emergency situations
- Observing patient care (first-year students)
- Hand-on experience with patient care (second-year students)

Health Office Administration students can apply for a placement with Public Health.
Focus areas for the placement can include,
- Provide client service to the public
- Respond to request for information
- Provide administrative support for programs and clinics
- Data entry for medical records

Students in a Bachelor of Applied Health Information Science can apply for a placement with Public Health to satisfy volunteer requirement for certain courses.
