The Region of Waterloo is making necessary upgrades to the Erb Street Reservoir located in Waterloo. This reservoir supplies water and backup water storage to parts of Waterloo and St. Agatha. This project is focused on maintaining existing Regional water infrastructure.
These upgrades require temporarily shutting down the Erb Street Reservoir, water supply will continue to be maintained through alternative sources to ensure uninterrupted service.

Construction impacts
Starting November 2, 2026, the Region will be preparing for the shutdown and isolation of the Erb Street Reservoir. Once isolated, contractors will be performing upgrades to valves and piping, instrumentation and structural repairs. Most of the work will be performed within the reservoir.
Exterior construction activities will be limited to the front of the reservoir at 990 Erb Street West for a short duration starting in November 2026. Impacts on Erb Street traffic is expected to be minimal and for short durations only.
Please note: Water supply will be maintained through alternative sources.
