Financial Support to Buy a Home
The Affordable Home Ownership program helps renters become homeowners. The program provides eligible home buyers with a five per cent loan for a down payment.
Who is eligible
To qualify, you must:
- Be buying a home in Waterloo Region for $620,000 or less (as of April 24, 2026)
- Have a household income of up to $129,200
- Be at least 18 years old and renting
- Have resided in Waterloo Region for at least the last year

How to apply
To apply, complete the Affordable Home Ownership application form below and fax to 519-575-4026, email, mail, or drop the form off at one of the following Regional offices:
