Your donation makes a difference

Donations to the Sunnyside Foundation help to fund programs, services, and equipment beyond the funding from the Ministry of Long-Term Care and the Region of Waterloo. Through the years, these donations have allowed Sunnyside to make some amazing and much-needed updates including:

• Funding the major Sunshine Lounge renovation: a modernized and dedicated program space for the Young Onset Dementia Association and Community Alzheimer Program created with the “butterfly-like” values of person-centred care
• Funding Sunnyside’s certification in The Butterfly Approach®: a person-centred and emotion-focused model of care for people living with a dementia
• Creating more inviting and inclusive areas within the home
• Developing an AdvantAge Ontario award-winning inter-generational outdoor space for residents and their families to enjoy
• Purchasing ceiling lifts for each resident room to allow residents to move with ease and comfort
• Enhancing the Recreation and Music Therapy programs and supplies
• Providing older adults in the community with a comfortable and barrier-free place to exercise at the Sunnyside Wellness Centre
• Purchasing professional sound equipment to create more accessible programing
• Supporting chaplaincy and palliative care programs
• Funding research and education that enhances quality care
