The Region of Waterloo is improving Maple Grove Road between Hespeler Road and Vondrau Drive in Cambridge. These improvements include:
- New asphalt multi-use paths on both sides of the street and bridge
- Two new roundabouts at Hespeler Road and Beaverdale Road
- Widening from two to four lanes
- Rehabilitating Ellis (Chilligo) Creek bridge
- Stormwater and drainage improvements
- Street lighting improvements
These improvements will make it easier for all residents to get around, whether by car, public transit, bike, or foot.

Getting around during construction
Construction of phase one between Hespeler Road and Beaverdale Road is nearing completion. As part of the next stage of work, the Hespeler Road and Maple Grove/Fisher Mills roundabout will be fully closed from June 19 to June 22 for surface asphalt replacement for Hespeler Road West to Ellis Creek.
Closures in effect during the roundabout closure:
- Hespeler Road will be closed between Queen Street and Guelph Avenue
- Maple Grove Road will be closed at Beaverdale Road
- Fisher Mills Road will be closed at Hespeler Road
- Access between Maple Grove Road and Fisher Mills Road through the roundabout will not be available.
Please follow the posted detour signage throughout the area and plan ahead for extra travel time.
