Access Permits
An access permit is required by anyone wanting to create a point of entry on to a property from a Regional road.

All Other Road Permits
The Region of Waterloo issues the following road permit types through the Permit Central platform. This platform includes details on each permit, application requirements, and terms and conditions.
Required to install, upgrade, downsize, occupy or remove public or private infrastructure, equipment, hardware or appurtenances within the Region's road right-of-way. Often required in addition to a Work Permit.
An oversize load permit is required to move loads that exceed Ministry of Transportation accepted limits by, height, length, width or weight as set out in the Highway Traffic Act.
According to By-Law 05-075, a Filming Event Permit is required for filming on a Regional road.
According to By-Law 05-076, a Special Event Permit is required for any parade/procession, ceremony, street dance/party, beer garden, solicitation of donations from a motor vehicle (toll road), sidewalk/street sale, festival/carnival, race/walk-a-thon, demonstration or any similar event that requires a lane or road closure or may interfere with the normal flow of traffic on a Regional Road, but does not include a wedding or funeral procession, picketing, or an activity for which the Region has granted a Filming Event Permit or a Work Permit.
Sign Installation Request
Approval is required before placing a temporary sign within a Regional road right-of-way according to By-Law Number 10-030. Sign requirements, installation standards and fees may apply depending on the sign’s size and location. For signs on municipal roads, contact the local municipality where the sign will be placed.

- Event signs
- Farm accessory signs
- New home builder signs
- Open house signs
