Rain Barrel Giveaway Contest Rules and Regulations - May 2026
This contest is open to anyone aged 18+ during the contest period.

- Comment on the post from May 14 to May 24, 2026. All comments will be included as a submission for the rain barrel giveaway.
- Follow one of or all of the Region of Waterloo’s social accounts:

- The Contest commences on May 14, 2026 and closes at 11:59 (EST) on May 24, 2026. The winner will be announced May 25, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.
- No purchase, expenditure or investment is necessary to enter this contest.
- There is no maximum of entries per person.
- The Region of Waterloo staff and their immediate families are not eligible for the Contest prizes.
Eligibility for entrants:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Must be a resident of Ontario, Canada.
- Must have an e-mail account to enter the contest.
Prize Information:
- There will be two rain barrel prizes available to be won by two eligible respondents.
The prize must be accepted as awarded and is non-refundable, non-transferable and non-redeemable for any cash value. The Region is not responsible for replacing the prize if it is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your knowledge or consent.
Winner Selection:
- A random draw will be held on May 25, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.
- The prize will be selected from all completed submissions received during the Contest until the closing date set out in section 23 of these Rules and Regulations.
- The selected entrant will be notified by 4:00 p.m. (ET) on May 25, 2026 on their social media account following the draw and again within three (3) days of the draw.
- The selected entrant must correctly answer a skill testing question posed by the Region’s corporate communications member before being declared the winner.
- In the event that the selected entrant incorrectly answers the skill testing question pursuant to item 14 above, or cannot be contacted pursuant to item 13 above, the second highest voted entrant will be randomly selected for the applicable prize who will also have to answer a skill testing question. Such process will be repeated for the other two selected entries until the correct skill testing question is answered correctly.
- The Region's rulings on the winner are final and without appeal in all matters related to this Contest and the awarding of the prize.
- In the event the selected entrant does not comply with these contest rules and regulations, or cannot be contacted within three (3) days of the draw, or declines the prize, an alternate entrant will be selected from the remaining entries.

Additional Rules and Regulations:
- Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant will be required to sign a waiver and release releasing and holding the Region harmless in relation to the Contest and consenting to the use of his/her contest entry, name and city of residence in any publicity carried out by the Region, including, without limitation, Social Media without further compensation as a condition to and in advance of receiving the prize, or the prize will be forfeited, and shall waive any moral rights in relation to Submission.
- The Region takes no responsibility for lost, misdirected, late, incomplete, illegible or destroyed entries or for failure of the website during the Contest period, for any problems or technical malfunction or any telephone network lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an applicant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from using or downloading any material in this Contest. The Region reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the email portion of this Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Region corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any Web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Region reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
- This Contest is subject to all federal, provincial and municipal laws.
- Each entrant agrees to abide by all contest rules and will be deemed to have reviewed and understood the rules if they participate in this Contest.
- The Region is not responsible for printing, distribution, or production errors and may terminate or withdraw this Contest at any time without prior notice.
