The concrete pad that supports the first unit was poured and cured, allowing the first container to arrive on site. Now that the unit has arrived, site preparation work continues and includes electrical and piping work to connect the unit to the Mannheim Water Treatment Plant.
This week, a significant increase to water capacity in the Mannheim Service Area was announced. This additional water capacity will ensure a continued safe and sustainable water supply to support community needs.
Twenty litres per second (L/s) of capacity will be assigned to Area Municipalities by July 1, which is expected to be available for use by end of September.
Construction crews began excavating at the Mannheim water treatment plant last week to prepare for the concrete pad and supports.
As we work to get more water to the communities where growth is happening, our team has come up with a creative solution that helps us treat more water, faster. See how it works, and the progress we are making.
A key solution to the capacity constraint has reached another milestone - the first of four innovative water treatment units that could help add significant new capacity is ready for next month's delivery.
