Waterloo Region- The Region of Waterloo is reviewing how it responds to groundwater interference complaints from private well owners. This review focuses specifically on the complaint and appeal process, including how concerns are assessed, how decisions are made, and what happens when interference is identified. 

Recent concerns raised by residents, particularly in rural areas, have highlighted the need for a process that is more transparent, independent, and resident-centered. In response, Regional Council has directed staff to explore updates, including options to strengthen and review the process of decision-making. 
 
The Region is seeking feedback from private well owners, potentially affected residents and other interested community members to help shape a process that is fair, transparent and responsive to the needs of our community.

Participants will learn how ground water interference is assessed, how the current process works, and have an opportunity to share feedback on potential improvements.
